The Reader Appreciation Award

Hello Hello my lovely readers! I haven’t posted in almost a month and I have missed you all! Well, my return to actually posting cannot be better announced than by an award I was nominated for by my most loyal blogger the lovely fellow over at Wanton Creation. The award is pretty simply for being a loyal and regular regular reading of his blog which is really not a difficult job considering his content is so awesome.

Anyways, as always the rules are to link back to the blog which nominated you, to nominate some loyal leaders and also to say what you’ve been up to recently.

Well, what have been up to? In a word- studying. And when I was done with that I studied some more. Then I went to sleep, woke up, studied. Ate some ice cream. Studied some more. Once I finished my exams I spent quite a large amount of time doing nothing much other than sleeping which was most excellent. Last week I also competed in a riding competition which was incredibly fun though utterly exhausting and after spending some time catching up with friends and organizing my summer plans I can happily say that I have been looking forward to blogging and reading again 🙂

Anyway, now to nominate some loyal readers, whose blogs I also highly recommend! (If I haven’t mentioned you, it’s just because there are so many of you! who to pick?!)

1. Wanton Creation

2. Akephalon Muse

3. Persephone

4. Literary Tiger

5. Thoughts on my Bookshelf

6. Books and Bowel Movements

The end of the tunnel

I’m almost finished with my exams. Which means I am almost back to blogging regularly. Something which makes me distinctly happy. I have missed the blogosphere. I hope you’re all cheery and well, hopefully in a week or so I shall be posting regularly once more. Before I get back, what do you think I should write about?

So….

May and June holds special significance for the university population. It’s exam time, and as it is the first of may I am painfully aware that I am on the cusp of this ever dreaded exam period. So I’m afraid my lovely readers and followers that I shall be posting much much less regularly as I prepare myself not to fail in a fantastically epic fashion. So a semi hiatus for the next month and a half. There will still be some posts but not really on a daily basis. Don’t forget me! I will be back! 🙂

3 reasons…

3 reasons I love blogging…

I think it’s safe to say that no one blogs regularly unless they enjoy it. I can think of no other reason to take time out of your day to ramble on in the hopes that someone, somewhere in the masses of people on the planet, actually gives two hoots about what you’re writing. But here are three concrete reasons I find it awesome.

1. It makes me a better reader

I’ll be honest, up until January this year I had pretty much shelved (terrible pun in the making, be warned) my reading habit. It became a thing of the past like- I used to read a lot when I was little. Although I stubbornly refused to relinquish my title as a book-lover I  was only reading 5-10 non university books in a year. Setting myself the challenge, and blogging about it, has motivated me. It shows me when I’ve been neglecting my loving paper friends. Like when, at the end of lent, (bearing in mind that Lent is 40 days and 40 nights) I had only actually COMPLETED one book. I had read many books, but not finished them. Terrible, but it made me get a move on. Without this blog I could hide my book shame, but I couldn’t. Because one of my readers would catch me out, would remind me that my goodreads counter was dangerously low.

2.  I meet people

I always thought blogging about books would make me a better reader but I never expected to meet so many lovely people. Can’t really get better than being able to connect with people who have similar interests.

3. It makes me a better writer

Like most book worms, I entertain often elaborate fantasies about writing and publishing the next big thing, pushing J.K Rowling off her Potter pedestal and having writers bow to my literary glory. When I return from the land of unlikely fantasies, I am often faced with my blog. It is here that I babble inanely about anything and everything that comes to mind and whilst I’m hardly the next Austen, blogging makes me more fluid, more engaged, less worried about what people think and more concerned about what I enjoy. And somehow- that seems to interest people too, making my writing dreams become just that little bit more likely..

So there are my three reasons. What are yours?.. 🙂

3 months blogging…

Tomorrow is my three month blog-iversary-. which apparently is when a blog becomes officially ‘established’, whatever that is meant to mean. Just wanted to say thanks for all the people who follow and seem to enjoy my blog! I’ve really enjoyed keeping a blog much more than I thought and to celebrate my general blogging joy I shall begin a week of purely picture blogging to celebrate books (and also the awesome pictures I found on pinterest).

Some Changes…

Well, I’ve been running around (metaphorically obviously) updating my blog a little and making plans for future updates- most likely over the summer when my brain is less mush-like and I have more free time. After a brief but painful spat of writers block (or bloggers block, not sure) I have slowly been coming up with some new ideas and a bit of structure to jazz up the blog. For those of you reading regularly I’m now going to do ‘Frivolous Fridays’- every friday I shall hopefully be posting a quote, video, book joke, something silly really just to keep life a little bit interesting- nothing particularly different from the odd quotes and other random things I post, just that now this will regularly be on Fridays-starting tomorrow. 🙂 From now on I shall also be including a short synopsis of all the plots of the books I read because I find describing plots really rather tedious 🙂

Suffering…

I am suffering from a serious ailment. It plagues me every time I open my blog, fogging my brain with it’s dirty tendrils. The dreaded, malicious, brain draining…writer’s block. My struggle to unblock my creative channels is quite mammoth in proportion and I know not what to do! Writers block hits everyone of us at some point but I wish it didn’t arrive at such inoportune moments! Even though I have arrived back from my holiday and should be feeling refreshed and revived, ready to face my blogalicious future, I feel positively uninspired, and dejected. My ideas for blog posts are dwindling at a massive rate and it’s really quite frustrating. My sentiments are accurately expressed in the cartoon to the left of this writing. If anyone has any cool ideas for what I could occupy my blogging thoughts with (well books obviously, but in what format?) then this would be most heartily appreciated. Until then, I shall attempt to soldier on and entertain you with my wit (aherm) and charm (single raised eyebrow). Happy reading! 🙂

The Return of the Bimbo

I’m back! Yes, it’s me. Holiday over, returning to blogging and university. Going to classes= painfully difficult. The Bimbo is back in the beautiful, brainy blogosphere, bursting with bimbosity? I’ll stop with the alliteration and just say a hello to everyone again! Hope to reconnect and see what everyone’s been getting up to over Easter as well as recommence my reading extravaganza. Two months until the glorious summer holidays begin- I don’t believe I could be more excited! 🙂

Holidays

Hello all my lovely blog followers! I am afraid that it is holiday time, so I’m off to visit the family and do food-based things. There therefore won’t be any regular posts for a little while! But I hope to see you all soon and share the books that I have read (not many, somehow, even without television, I’ve still been very distracted) and other random anecdotes! Will be back soon! Happy Holidays! (for those who have them!).

You are My Sunshine (award)

When I first went to university I was constantly told that it was where I would find ‘like minds’- people who would become my closest friends for the rest of my life. What I actually found was many people with similar interests, but not that many like minds. Blogging, on the other hand, has opened the world to a whole plethera of like minds, of people who genuinely make my day just that little bit happier- possibly because you only actually visit or comment on a blog if you’re interested in what that person has to say, interested in the way that they see the world. So it was a burst of sunshine (yes, cheesy pun) in my day to find that I had been nominated for an award by fellow blogger wantoncreation. The Sunshine Award is given by bloggers to fellow bloggers who brighten up their day! Which makes me incredibly happy!

As with other awards, this one requires that I post the award picture in my post and link back to the person who nominated me: which in this case is wantoncreation, whose blog is absolutely fantastic, a definite must-read not only for the elegance in his writing but also his humor, sensitivity and general content. He also answers every comment on his blog which is something that frankly amazes me!

I also have to answer 10 personal questions and nominate 10 fellow bloggers for the award.

1. Favorite color– At the moment, mint because of the fashion craze with mint at the moment. But also peach in a more general sense. Soft peach. Makes me think of flowers.

2. Favorite animal– Horse. Without a doubt. The only reason I’m doing my 100 book challenge and trying to raise money for World Horse Welfare.  If you’re afraid of horses or indifferent, you really are missing out on an incredible experience. Loyal creatures their personalities and quirks makes them literally human. And beautiful too!

3. Favorite number– 16. Don’t know why, it just is.

4. Favorite non-alcoholic drink– Carrot or cucumber juice. yum 🙂

5. Prefer Facebook or Twitter– Facebook. I find Twitter confusing.

6. My passion– Not any one thing. I am passionate about a plethera of things. Riding, History, Ballet, Singing, I don’t think I can narrow it down to just one.

7. Prefer Giving or Getting presents– Giving. Nothing in the world compares to finding something which makes someone smile.

8. Favorite pattern– Most indian patterns on fabric. Stunning.

9. Favorite day of the week– Monday. I know, you think I’m mad, to reassure you it is also my least favorite day of the week, but I like mondays because every single one is a promise of a new start, new goals, a clean slate- a chance to do better than the last week.

10. Favorite flower– Tulips. So many pretty colors!

And now for 10 blogs. If I haven’t put your blog on here I probably still love reading your blog!

1. wantoncreation (who else!)

2. The Tiger’s Eye

3. Thoughts on my Bookshelf

4. The Lonely Dogs

5. Persephone’s Winged Reviews

6. Books and Bowel Movements

7. Freyamorel

8. dare I eat a peach?

9. Cogito Ergo Blog

10. A.J. Jenner

(P.S I think you should visit all these blogs, just to see if you like them too)
